Money:

Originally, the KM was fixed related to the German mark, but after the introduction of currency EUR in all Eurozone, KM/BAM is related to the EUR by a fixed exchange rate (1, 95583 KM = 1 EUR). Most shops will accept payment in Euro currency, using a 1 EUR to 2 BAM ratio. There are many ATM machines in all major towns and cities. US dollars, British pounds and other major currencies can be exchanged at the banks and exchange offices that are present in most major towns. They also swap your leftover KMs back into any of these main currencies. Most banks do not have a fixed fee, but take a percentage of the total amount. As this percentage varies, you should do a bit of research before exchanging large amounts of money. Although credit cards are increasingly widely accepted in major towns, you should not rely on them. Credit Cards like VISA and MasterCard are accepted in all shopping centers and smaller stores, while with the American Express card that is not yet the case, but you may find a lot of shopping centers and stores that have installed P.O.S. terminals to accept the AMEX card.
